On
November 2000, the administrative council of the Federation of
European Philatelic Associations (FEPA) decided on a unanimous vote to
award the Hellenic Philotelic Society with the Certificate of
Appreciation for the 75 years of the Society's activities and the
uninterrupted publication of "Philotelia" journal.
FEPA
was founded in 1988 and today is the representative body of
approximately 40 national Federations in Western Europe and North
Africa, with the intention to expand and include the Federations of
the nations of Eastern Europe as well.
FEPA
is the third Continental Federation that was formed, FIAF (America)
and FIAP (Asia) were the forerunners. It is today evolving as a power
with considerable strength inside the philatelic community, being the
Federation that has members in the stronger philatelic countries.
Since
1999, FEPA has established the Certificate of Appreciation, which up
until today has been awarded to the following organizations:
1999
- Philatelic Federation of Switzerland.
1999
- Philatelic Society of Zdar (Czech Republic).
2000
- Philatelic Society BriefmarkenFreunde Dusseldorf (Germany).
