This year Olympic Games are returning to their homeland again and mark our newly born century.

Greece is happy to host for the third time, since 1896 and 1906, a modern Olympiad.

At the same time, Olympic Philately celebrates its exhibition year with the well established specialized world philatelic Exhibition under the name OLYMPHILEX which will be held concurrently with Athens Olympic Games 2004.

The Hellenic Post is participating in this great world event as one of the great national sponsors of the Olympic Games 2004, is organizing OLYMPHILEX 2004 with the cooperation of the Hellenic Philotelic Federation and the support of Hellenic Union of Olympic and Sports Philately under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Federation Internationale de Philatelie Olympique (FIPO) and the auspices of the International Philatelic Federation (FIP).

The rules governing this specialized world exhibition devoted to the Olympic and Sports Philately, Coins and Memorabilia are those of:

 

General Regulations of FIP for Exhibitions (GREX),

General Regulations for the evaluation of competitive exhibits at FIP Exhibitions (GREV),

Special Regulations for the evaluation of competitive exhibits at FIP Exhibitions (SREV), and

The Special Regulations for OLYMPHILEX 2004.

 

The venue of the Exhibition occupying 3000 square meters approximately will be the modern fully air-conditioned European Exhibition and Promotion Center (EKEP) in the northwest Athens area, 35 minutes from the airport and 25 minutes from the center of Athens.

The available frame capacity would not exceed 1000 of 16 sheets each, for all classes. The participation is free. There will be also adequate number of stands for Postal Authorities and dealers.

Consultants to the Exhibition have been appointed Mr. Fernando Aranaz del Rio and Mr. Maurizio Tecardi by FIP and FIPO, respectively.

Mr. Anthony B. Virvilis FRPSL, AIJP, AEP has been appointed General Commissioner of OLYMPHILEX 2004
